Routes & Maps
Our 30-mile route is a one of kind experience that allows you to see Manhattan in a way you never have before. You will be traffic free around the outer edge of Manhattan on the East & West side highways including a traffic free ride through Battery Park Tunnel at the southern tip of Manhattan and experiences views of the George Washington Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and other New York City landmarks you can only see on this route. Cyclists must maintain a minimum speed of 10-12 mph throughout route.
For 2022 we will be introducing a new long route that will go across one of the Hudson River crossings and provide a scenic 50–60-mile route through New Jersey returning over the George Washington Bridge. Details on this new and exciting route will be released in the of Summer 2022.

Inwood Park Rest Stop (30 Mile Route)
The rest stop is located 19 miles into the course. All cyclists will be held at the rest stop for approximately 45 min as we change over the highway closures from the FDR to the West Side Highway. Visit Ride Details – Meals & Support for every offered at the rest stop.
Route Markers
For the 30-mile route follow the NYPD directions and signage, and the crowd, as you ride a complete circle around Manhattan traffic free.

We ride rain or shine. Please be prepared for rain, cold weather or very sunny conditions. Weather can change overnight so prepare for every scenario. Stay tuned to our site and your inbox for up-to-date announcements regarding inclement weather.
Additional Safety Information
The safety of our cyclists is the number one priority at Bike MS which is why we made Think Safe our motto. Currently, we are working towards and looking forward to hosting Bike MS New York City 2022 as a one-day ride. We will implement a variety of new protocols in keeping with current guidance on event attendance from the CDC, state, city, and other local agencies to keep our participants, volunteers, staff and host communities as safe as possible.

Pre-Ride Events
Fundraising Weeks
Both a team and an individual participant can win big during this year’s fundraising weeks.
When:
- Fundraising Week #1: August 14-21
- Fundraising Week #2: September 11-18
Who: Winners for each fundraising week will include both the individual (team member or non-team member) and the team(s) with most money raised online (total dollars) during that week.
Team winners will be determined based on the following two divisions. That’s right, two teams can win during each fundraising week!
- Teams with 15 or more members at the start of the fundraising week
- Teams with less than 15 members at the start of the fundraising week
Prizes:
Fundraising Week #1: August 14-21
- Individual Prize: Get ready for ride day kit provided by Trek our Exclusive Mechanical Support Sponsor with all the things you need to get you bike and gear ready, valued up to $300.

Meals & Support
Bike MS is an extraordinary ride no matter where you are! Whether you have a flat tire or need a snack to help get you across the finish line, we’ve got you covered…
Breakfast at Start Line:
Breakfast at the Sunday start line will be limited. Water, sports drinks, breakfast bars and bananas will be available on vehicles in our start line chute on the West Side Highway. Please arrive with a full stomach, full water bottles and be ready to get on the road!
Elite-150 and Elite teams will enjoy a hot breakfast and coffee served by Bareburger in Pier 84 starting at 6am, just show your credentials to access the pier.
Rest Stop: Inwood Hill Park:
The rest stop is located 19 miles into the course. All cyclists will be held at the rest stop for approximately 45 min as we change over the highway closures from the FDR to the West Side Highway.
Enjoy individually packaged sweet and salty snacks such as chips, energy bar or gel, fruit and more. Examples of snacks served in past Honeystinger waffles, gels, pickle juice, fruit, bars (granola & power), sports drinks, and chips. Gluten Free options will be available.
Rest stop will also offer:
- Fun festivities and smiling faces
- First aid stations
- Mechanical support from Trek
**Only authorized Bike MS vehicles and cyclists are permitted access to the rest stops ride weekend. All other vehicular traffic is prohibited.**
Lunch at Finish Line:
Lunch will be provided by Bareburger including Beef burgers with and without cheese, chicken burgers and veggie burgers (black bean based) and a variety of topping and sides. Lunch is available for all participants, but we will have a VIP lunch line for E-150, Top fundraisers, Super & Elite team members. In addition to lunch, you can also grab a bottle of water or single serve package snacks from our snack table, there will be similar options as our rest stop with Gluten Free options available.
Beer Garden at Finish Line:
If you are 21 or over, please enjoy a craft beer at our beer garden, beer tickets will be available for purchase on site day of the event. VIP beer line is available for Top Fundraisers and E-150 and they will get to enjoy a beer on us as a perk of being in those clubs!
Medical Support & Emergency Assistance
Emergency medical support travels the entire route if a cyclist may be injured. Help us provide top-notch first aid by completing the back of your rider number. In addition, an emergency number will be printed on the wristband included in your rider number packet. Use this number during the ride if you spot an accident. First aid stations will also be available.
- If you need assistance while on the route, call the number printed on the white wristband included in your rider packet
- In the event of a serious medical emergency, dial 911.
- You must fill out the emergency information on the reverse side of your bib prior to the start of the ride on Sunday morning.
Support and Gear (SAG) Vehicles
Just can’t push another pedal? These school bus & truck duos follow at the end of the rider bubble and stop at the rest stop. Cyclists are expected to maintain a minimum speed of 10-12 mph throughout route.
Flip your bike upside down and look for the first SAG wagon to come your way. Give the thumbs-down signal if you want to be picked up. You and your bike will be transported.
NOTE: The trip into the finish line is not always direct. Be patient as we pick up other cyclists in need. Once you board the SAG vehicle you will not be able to get off until they reach the finish line at Pier 84. Always remember to thank your driver, who is volunteering his or her time for the weekend to support you.
Personal SAG Vehicles PROHIBITED. Personal SAG vehicles are not permitted on the route. Please understand our need to cut down on vehicular traffic for YOUR SAFETY.
No trailers, tagalongs or child carriers are allowed on the route per the Society’s Youth Riders policy.
Bike Mechanical Support
Trek will be located at the start line, Inwood Park rest stop and at the New Jersey Rest Stops. Air pump stations will be available at all the breakfast trucks in the start line chute.
Bike Marshals
These cyclist volunteers can be found at "trouble" intersections and along the route. They monitor and guide cyclist traffic but are not permitted to stop vehicular traffic. When you see a road marshal volunteer, ride with caution. They’ll be wearing orange vests so you can’t miss them.
Police & Communities Who Welcome Us
Please be respectful of the communities that support and welcome Bike MS! Their hospitality makes this event possible. Every effort is made to keep you safe. Where possible, local law enforcement agencies have been recruited to help you travel safely through intersections and on shared roadways.

To receive your rider number in the mail, we must have received your required waiver/safety pledge (if you registered online and over 18 you will have completed this as part of the online registration process) and you have reached the $250 fundraising minimum. Bike Rentals
Book Your Bike Rental
Bike MS: New York City is excited to announce we will be continuing our bike rental partnership with Unlimited Biking. Participants have the option to pick up and drop off their bike at multiple convenient locations, including the start/finish line on ride day. Each rental comes with a helmet and New York City event regulation size bike bag. Reservations need to be made prior to event weekend. Share this exciting news with a potential team member, who would like to join you at the ride but doesn’t have a bike!
