We have made the difficult decision not to hold the Bike MS: Twin Cities Ride in person this year due to unexpected challenges and variables.

We’ve been hard at work redesigning our events to meet a new standard of safety and developing a thoughtful, principle-based framework to guide all our decisions and planning. We have implemented robust safety measures including health screenings, facial coverings, physical distancing and sanitation, and our intent was to see all of you May 16.

However, we also must consider community-based factors that affect our ability to hold a safe and enjoyable Bike MS event. As we approach the final weeks leading up to the ride, we unfortunately face a combination of unresolved barriers, including several significant permitting challenges and unknown availability of police resources to support key intersections. Additionally, because Bike MS events bring the risk of an injury or two, we also factor in hospital capacity to make sure we aren’t taxing a strained healthcare system. And right now, hospital capacity in the Twin Cities area is taxed beyond our comfort level.

It’s important to us that your Bike MS experience is nothing short of extraordinary, and while this was a tough decision, we believe it’s the right one. If we’ve learned anything this past year, it’s that we must be ready to adapt, and in some cases, change course entirely.

Please consider joining your Upper Midwest Bike MS family at either Bike MS: MS 150 June 12 (we've added a  23 mile route!), or Bike MS: Ride Across Minnesota July 23. We are continuing to monitor the same community-based factors for these rides as well and will keep you updated. Additionally, we have more than 55 extraordinary rides around the country we encourage you to explore.

Once you’ve met your $50 fundraising minimum, contact us to transfer your registration. There is no additional fee to ride! Don’t worry—all your fundraising dollars will remain with your home Bike MS ride and we will still recognize and reward you for your fundraising efforts. Our fundraising deadline will remain June 15, 30 days past the Bike MS: Twin Cities Ride original ride date.

As we look to the future, we are optimistic that we will come together for Bike MS: Twin Cities Ride soon.

Thank you for your flexibility and continued support of our mission.
