Congratulations to the 2021 Award Winner: Shennon Black

Shennon's Story

Having never ridden a bike with more than a couple of friends, the idea of a big group ride was not something I pictured myself doing. A casual ride with a friend (future teammate) convinced me to give it a try. A great team was key to providing me with opportunities to train and learn the tools of group riding. Having known several people that have lived with MS, it is my younger cousin with her two young boys that inspired me to self-fund my ride. I shared my ride on social media and was amazed at the response from my friends and family. The element throughout my summer training I had not anticipated the stories. People who donated shared one by one how MS has touched the lives of people they cared about. It was an honor to hold those stories as I entered into the challenge of completing the ride.

Top I Ride with MS Fundraiser - I Ride with MS participant that raises the most funds.

Congratulations to the 2021 Award Winner: Carol Risdal

Carol's Story

What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been.

It started with some tingling down my arms and legs, trouble concentrating, always tired, and strangely, I was really having a hard time getting my fingers to type correctly on a keyboard. But hey, I was a working mom with 3 kids and a husband, I should be tired…right? I went to my doctor saying I’m sure this is nothing but here’s what’s going on and he said I’m sure you’ll be all right but let’s do an MRI to rule out MS. That Diagnosis came in 2005. How amazing to have an answer so quickly! Certainly not the usual story you hear. Around the same time a close friend was diagnosed with cancer and our friends responded with an outpouring of kindness and support for both of us. How to help someone with MS is kind of hard to figure out though and that’s when Greg Anderson decided to form a bike team and ride for MS in my honor. Read more.
